Job summary

SERT is seeking a Technical Solar Manager in Manchester to lead the technical delivery of residential, commercial and industrial Solar PV and battery storage projects from design through to installation and completion.

You will work closely with surveyors, designers, installation teams, suppliers and DNOs to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in full compliance with industry standards. A strong background in PV design and MCS/DNO requirements is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in designing residential, commercial and industrial Solar PV and battery storage systems.
• Strong knowledge of MCS standards, PAS 2030/2035 and DNO G98/G99 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the technical design and delivery of Solar PV and battery storage projects.
• Review and approve system designs, layouts, electrical schematics and technical specifications.
• Provide technical support to surveyors, designers and installation teams.
• Ensure compliance with MCS standards, DNO requirements, BS7671 regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
• Liaise with DNOs, manufacturers and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct technical assessments, resolve project challenges and support product selection.
• Monitor project progress and maintain accurate technical documentation.
• Assist with training and development of technical team members.
• Keep up to date with industry developments, technologies and regulatory changes.

Solar Manager

£50,000 - £55,000 Basic Salary + Bonus + Full Benefits Package

We are looking for an experienced Technical Solar Manager to join our growing renewable energy business. This is a key office-based role responsible for managing the technical delivery of residential, commercial and industrial solar PV and battery storage projects from design through to installation and completion.

Working closely with surveyors, designers, installation teams, suppliers and DNOs, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in full compliance with industry standards.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience designing residential, commercial and industrial Solar PV and battery storage systems.
• Strong knowledge of MCS standards, PAS 2030/2035 and DNO G98/G99 requirements.
• Experience with site surveys, shading analysis, yield calculations and feasibility assessments.
• Proficiency using PVSol, EasyPV, SolarEdge Designer or similar design software.
• Ability to produce system layouts, single-line diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Strong understanding of electrical design principles and industry best practice.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Essential Qualifications

• Level 3 Award in the Installation and Commissioning of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
• Inspection & Testing Qualification (City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent).
