The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a meticulous Electrical Design Engineer with expertise in designing and optimising renewable energy systems. You will be passionate about clean energy technologies, possess a strong engineering background, and have a talent for developing efficient and compliant electrical solutions. Key Responsibilities

1. Design and develop electrical systems for solar PV installations, including single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and equipment layouts.
2. Perform electrical load calculations, wiring sizing, voltage drop assessments, and inverter selection to deliver optimised designs.
3. Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and technical analyses for solar and integrated energy projects.
4. Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
5. Collaborate with project managers, structural engineers, and installation teams to achieve high-performing system designs.
6. Research and specify electrical components, including inverters, switchgear, and protective equipment.
7. Support the permitting process, including DNO applications and planning submissions to local authorities.
8. Provide technical evaluations and recommend design improvements based on equipment and system performance.
9. Assist with commissioning and troubleshooting to ensure safe and reliable operation of installed systems.
10. Prepare technical proposals, presentations, and documentation for stakeholders.
11. Coordinate and monitor team deliverables to ensure project milestones are met efficiently.

Requirements

1. Level 5 or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
2. 2-3 years of experience in renewable energy projects, particularly solar, battery, or EV systems, or commercial electrical installations.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of electrical codes and standards, such as NEC and IEC.
4. Strong foundation in electrical theory, applications, and renewable energy technologies.
5. Excellent analytical skills for evaluating technical data, project feasibility, and risks.
6. Proficiency with software tools including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PV Syst, PV Sol, SolarEdge.
7. Autodesk AutoCAD and ELEK Design Software (preferred but not essential).
8. Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
9. Highly organised and detail-focused with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
