Job summary

ESCO Maritime is seeking an experienced Software Tester to join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering safety- and mission-critical software for the maritime defence sector. You will work on code- and system-level testing, owning the unit and integration test estate across Windows and Linux, embedded in the CI/CD pipeline.

You will design, execute, and strengthen test tooling, ensure traceability from requirements to results, and contribute to continuous test strategy improvements

Qualifications

• Commercial software tester experience on a software development team.
• Strong unit testing and test-driven development using common frameworks.
• Ability to read and debug code in C++, C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience with mocking frameworks and test doubles.
• Knowledge of code coverage and static analysis tooling.
• Proven traceability from requirements to tests.
• Excellent defect management and test documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and maintain unit tests for new and legacy code.
• Develop integration and regression test suites across Windows and Linux.
• Derive test cases from requirements with traceability to results.
• Own Jira test workflows, boards, and reporting; keep artefacts current in Confluence.
• Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines and diagnose/build green.
• Reproduce and document defects; coordinate closure with developers.
• Produce test plans, reports, and evidence for reviews.
• Monitor code coverage, pass rates, and defect trends; suggest improvements.
• Coach developers on unit testing practices and support test strategy improvements.
