Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited is seeking a Software Test Engineer to join a defence/maritime engineering team in Dorset. This permanent, hybrid role focuses on delivering software test activities across the SDLC for high-integrity systems.

You will develop manual, automated and regression tests, produce plans and reports, and collaborate with software, systems, hardware and integration engineers to ensure traceability and quality in safety-critical software.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Software Test Engineer to join a highly skilled engineering team working on complex,high-integrity software and systems within the defence and maritime sector.

The role will focus on the delivery of software test activities throughout the software development lifecycle,including test planning,test management,execution,verification and reporting.

You will work closely with software,systems and integration engineers to develop logical,robust test solutions for technically challenging systems.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Software Test Engineer who enjoys working in a highly technical environment and wants exposure to complex defence,maritime and safety-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

As a Software Test Engineer,your responsibilities will include:

• Planning,managing and delivering software test activities throughout the software development lifecycle
• Developing robust manual,automated and regression testing solutions
• Producing test plans,test specifications,procedures and supporting documentation

• Ensuring appropriate traceability between requirements,testing and results
• Identifying,investigating and documenting software defects

• Producing clear technical reports and communicating results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of software testing processes and methodologies

Essential Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates with:

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Software Engineering,Computer Science or a related discipline
• Proven experience supporting or leading software testing activities
• Strong understanding of software testing within the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Experience planning and delivering manual and regression testing
• Knowledge of software engineering lifecycle processes and associated tools
• Experience working with requirements and translating them into effective test solutions
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good technical documentation and report-writing skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical specialists and non-technical stakeholders

Technical Skills

Experience in one or more of the following would be particularly beneficial:
