Job summary

ALTEN is a global engineering and technology consultancy with a presence in London and across sectors. We are seeking a Software Test Engineer to join our growing engineering team, contributing to high-quality software solutions in complex environments.

In this role you will develop test documentation, execute functional, integration and system tests, and collaborate with software development teams to ensure quality throughout the development lifecycle. Hybrid working in London is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• ISTQB Foundation Certification or equivalent testing experience preferred
• Experience writing and maintaining automated test scripts
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps and modern DevOps practices
• Experience working with DOORS requirements management tools
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and software development lifecycles

Job Description

We are looking for a Software Test Engineer to join our growing engineering team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality software solutions within complex technical environments.

In this role, you will support the verification and validation of software systems by developing structured test documentation, executing test activities, and working closely with software development teams to ensure system quality throughout the development lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for a test professional who is passionate about quality, process improvement, and modern software development practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, and test descriptions
• Execute functional, integration, and system-level testing activities
