Job summary

ALTEN in London is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our growing team and support the development of innovative software solutions in a technically challenging environment.

You will design, implement, and improve modern applications, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality software that meets customer and business requirements. This role is based in London with a hybrid model (3 days on-site) and mid-level to senior progression.

Responsibilities

Job Description

We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our growing team and support the development of innovative software solutions within a technically challenging environment.

You will work on the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of modern applications, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality software that meets customer and business requirements. This role offers exposure to a variety of technologies, development practices, and complex engineering projects.

Location: London
Hybrid: 3 days per week on-site
Seniority: Mid-Level to Senior

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications using modern development technologies
• Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from concept and design through to deployment and support
• Collaborate with technical teams to deliver robust and scalable software solutions
• Support software testing, integration, and validation activities
• Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
• Produce and maintain technical documentation where required

Qualifications

• Commercial experience developing software applications using C# and .NET technologies
• Experience building and supporting enterprise-level or customer-facing applications
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices and design principles
• Experience working within structured development environments
• Familiarity with source control, build management, and modern development tooling
• Understanding of software testing approaches and quality assurance practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong stakeholder engagement and teamwork abilities
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage priorities effectively
• Quality-focused approach to software delivery
• Ability to work in fast-paced project environments

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• Demonstrable experience delivering software solutions within a professional setting
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams
• Exposure to cloud-based development environments and DevOps practices
• Knowledge of modern software architectures and distributed systems
• Familiarity with Microsoft development tools and technologies
• Experience within engineering, technology, or highly regulated industries
• Exposure to additional programming languages and frameworks
