Job summary

ALTEN Ltd - UK is seeking a Software Test Engineer to join our growing engineering team in London. The role is hybrid with mid-level to senior responsibilities, focusing on verification, validation, and quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

The successful candidate will develop structured test documentation, execute tests across functional, integration and system levels, and collaborate with software developers to ensure high quality releases in CI/CD environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in software testing and quality assurance environments.
• Experience writing and maintaining test descriptions and test documentation.
• Experience working within CI/CD environments and modern software delivery pipelines.
• Knowledge of defect management, test execution, and validation processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Job Description

We are looking for a Software Test Engineer to join our growing engineering team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality software solutions within complex technical environments.

In this role, you will support the verification and validation of software systems by developing structured test documentation, executing test activities, and working closely with software development teams to ensure system quality throughout the development lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for a test professional who is passionate about quality, process improvement, and modern software development practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps and modern DevOps practices
• Experience working with DOORS requirements management tools
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and software development lifecycles
