Job summary

ZENOVO is recruiting a Software Quality Assurance Engineer for a Bristol-based, on-site role with three days per week on site. You will provide independent software assurance across the full SDLC and work with engineering teams to promote a proactive quality culture.

The ideal candidate has hands-on QA experience, strong SDLC knowledge, and familiarity with ISO 9001 in a regulated or complex environment. This role offers a pathway to deliver high-quality, safe software systems and support audits

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in Software Quality Assurance within a development environment.
• Strong understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001.
• Experience in a structured, regulated or complex engineering environment is desirable.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent software assurance across design, development, testing and release activities.
• Conduct process compliance checks and address non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Participate in software lifecycle reviews including design, code, testing and release approvals.
• Support Change Control Boards ensuring quality requirements are met.
• Analyse and report software development KPIs to inform quality objectives.
• Maintain quality records and contribute to QMS improvement and engineering efficiency.

Overview:

On behalf of a long-standing client, we are looking for a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer to join a collaborative engineering and quality team, supporting the delivery of reliable, high-quality software used in critical global environments.

The role will provide independent software assurance across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), working closely with engineering teams across design, development, testing and release, while identifying opportunities to strengthen processes and promote a proactive quality culture.

We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience in software quality assurance or software development, a strong understanding of the SDLC, and ideally experience within a complex, regulated or quality-driven environment with a familiarity with ISO 9001.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide independent software assurance across design, development, testing and release activities.
• Conduct process compliance checks, identifying inconsistencies, non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Participate in software lifecycle reviews, including design, code, testing and release approvals.
• Support Change Control Boards, ensuring software quality and process requirements are addressed.
• Analyse and report software development KPIs to support quality objectives and continuous improvement.
• Advise software engineers on development processes, quality standards and procedural requirements.
• Conduct internal audits and support customer and external audits as required.
• Maintain quality records and contribute to QMS improvement, process optimisation and engineering efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

• Hands-on experience in Software Quality Assurance with a development environment.
• Strong understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Awareness and understanding of software development frameworks and methodologies.
• Experience working within a structured, quality-focused, regulated, or complex engineering environment is desirable.
• Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex information, identify issues, and translate findings into actionable insights.
• Experience supporting process compliance, audits, non-conformances, corrective actions, or continuous improvement activities.
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Confident communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with software engineers, quality teams, project teams, and other stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to identifying quality risks and opportunities for process improvement.
