Job summary

Burns Sheehan Limited is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team delivering modern, customer-facing SaaS products. You will combine technical excellence with people leadership to grow engineers and improve delivery.

In this role you will mentor engineers, shape architecture, promote best practices, and drive DevOps, CI/CD and automated testing to ensure code quality and reliable software releases in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading software engineering teams in a fast-paced SaaS or product-focused environment.
• Background as a hands-on software engineer before moving into leadership.
• Excellent understanding of modern software architecture, clean code, SOLID principles and software design patterns.
• Experience working with modern DevOps practices, CI/CD and automated testing.

Software Engineering Manager – SaaS Scale-up – Lead high-performing engineering teams

Remote working – Manchester based office with monthly or quarterly visits

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join a growing SaaS scale-up to lead a team of talented software engineers who are delivering modern, customer-facing SaaS products. This role will suit an Engineering Manager who enjoys combining deep technical expertise with a passion for developing engineers and building high-performing engineering teams.

You’ll play a key role in driving engineering excellence, ensuring high standards of software quality, improving team performance and fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. Whilst your primary focus will be leadership, you’ll remain close enough to the technology to provide technical guidance, review architecture and code quality, and help solve complex engineering challenges.
