Job summary

Stryker Belfast offers a software cooperative placement at the Belfast site, joining the 2027 Cooperative cohort. You will work on embedded code, PC applications, and supporting phone apps within a collaborative team.

You will design and develop parts of new products, document designs, ensure compliance with Quality Procedures, and address regulatory/safety requirements while benefiting from mentorship and flexible working hours.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a related degree with good first-year results.
  • A-levels or equivalent required.
  • Experience in software development is advantageous.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop part of a new product or system.
  • Design to specification and generate required documentation for each software life cycle phase.
  • Understand and apply Company Quality Procedures within the Quality System.
  • Understand and apply Regulatory and Safety Requirements to designs.
  • Document design changes according to Quality Procedures.

Job description

This role will be based in our Belfast site.


Throughout the placement, you will be an integral part of Stryker’s 2027 Cooperative cohort.


We're a close-knit team of passionate software professionals, working together to create innovative medical device solutions. Our expertise spans embedded code, PC applications, and supporting phone apps, all developed within a friendly and collaborative environment.


Tasks and responsibilities may include:

  • To design/develop part of a new product or system.
  • To design to specification and generate the required documentation for each phase of the software life cycle.
  • To understand and apply the Company Quality Procedures and actively contribute to, and within, the company’s Quality System.
  • To understand and apply all appropriate Regulatory and Safety Requirements to any product/project design undertaken or proposed.
  • To document design changes according to Company Quality Procedures.

What you will need:

Qualifications:

  • Relevant on-going degree course with acceptable 1st year results.
  • Relevant A-levels of equivalent.

Key Competencies needed for this position:

  • While previous experience of software development is a distinct advantage, a good working understanding of at least one programming language (C, C++, C#, Java) syntax is sufficient to fulfil the duties of this post as guidance will be provided.
  • Experience of working within a team environment.
  • Knowledge or experience of general electronics hardware would be useful.
  • Effective communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail.
