ASMPT SMT UK Limited in Weymouth is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Research and Development team. You will maintain and develop software for printing solutions, factory line controls, and related modules. The role emphasizes a practical engineering approach and collaboration across teams.

You will work on design, development and validation activities while contributing to continuous improvement and maintaining technical competence in a dynamic, global electronics environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent Level 6 qualification.
  • Experience with design and validation of engineering requirements.
  • Proficient with source control systems and the SDLC.
  • Strong object-oriented programming and UML knowledge.
  • Proficient in C#/.NET and related tooling.

As a Software Engineer you will maintain and manage applications of current and developing technology, and undertake engineering design, development, and operation of printing solutions, factory line solutions, and their associated modules and configurable options. You Will:

  • Identify, review, and select techniques, procedures, and methods to undertake engineering tasks.
  • Contribute to the design and development of engineering solutions.

  • Plan the work and resources needed to enable effective implementation of engineering tasks.
  • Manage, organise and control programme, budget and resource elements of significant engineering tasks or projects.
  • Communicate effectively with others at all levels in English and present technical proposals, justifications and conclusions.
  • Maintain and develop continuing professional development and technical competence.
    You are an experienced software engineer with a strong technical background, a practical approach to engineering problem solving, and the ability to contribute to the design, development and implementation of software solutions.
You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline / equivalent Level 6 qualification with mid-level experience, OR Level 5 qualification (HND) with senior-level experience, OR Incorporated Engineer with mid-level experience, OR comparable specialist knowledge with mid-level professional experience.
  • Experience in the design and validation of engineering requirements.
  • Experience of Source Control Systems.
  • Experience of the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Experience of Object-Orientated Programming.
  • Experience of UML.
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience of hardware and real time control systems.
  • Experience of design patterns.
  • Experience with Visual Studio.
  • Experience in C#/.NET programming language.
