Job summary

ASMPT SMT UK Limited in Weymouth seeks an Electrical Engineer to join the R&D team. You will design and develop electrical systems for advanced manufacturing equipment, produce schematics, and maintain documentation using ePlan, while collaborating with mechanical and software engineers across the product lifecycle.

You will contribute to engineering change management, specify user requirements, and ensure compliance with EMC and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience designing electrical or electronic assemblies.
  • Knowledge of CAD packages such as ePlan.
  • Experience using engineering data management systems such as Teamcenter PLM.
  • Good knowledge of electrical drawing standards.
  • Understanding of product development and engineering change processes.

Responsibilities

Job description

As our product portfolio continues to grow, we're looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering R&D team in Weymouth. In this role, you'll maintain and develop applications of current and emerging technologies while contributing to the design, development and continuous improvement of our industry-leading printing solutions, factory line systems and configurable product options. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll help deliver innovative electrical engineering solutions from concept through to production. You Will:

  • Design and develop electrical and electronic systems for advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • Produce electrical designs, schematics and technical documentation using CAD tools such as ePlan.
  • Contribute to product development, engineering change management and continuous improvement activities.
  • Investigate engineering issues using a structured, evidence-based approach and implement effective solutions.
  • Prepare technical specifications and define user requirements for new developments and enhancements.
  • Review engineering processes and recommend improvements to reflect industry best practice.
  • Work closely with Mechanical, Software and Manufacturing Engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure designs meet quality, safety, EMC and relevant engineering standards.
  • Support the delivery of reliable, cost-effective and innovative engineering solutions.
  • Working on a mix of short and long-term projects. You are a proactive Electrical Engineer with a passion for solving technical challenges and developing innovative products.
  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or another relevant technical discipline (or equivalent experience/qualification).
  • Good understanding of electrical, electronic, electromechanical and mechatronic systems.
  • Experience designing electrical or electronic assemblies.
  • Knowledge of CAD packages such as ePlan.
  • Experience using engineering data management systems such as Teamcenter PLM.
  • Good knowledge of electrical drawing standards
  • Understanding of product development and engineering change processes.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following:
  • Measurement, control and regulation
  • Sensors and actuators
  • Electrical wiring and safety
  • Knowledge of EMC and ESD.
Desirable Skills
  • Motion control systems.
  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • Experience designing special purpose machinery.
  • Knowledge of EMC and ESD.
