Job summary

Profitec Solutions Limited in Cookstown, Northern Ireland, is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our team. You will help deliver automation and control systems for the Water & Wastewater sector, from design through to commissioning, ensuring client standards and industry best practices are met.

The role requires PLC and HMI programming, design documentation, test and commissioning experience, and strong communication with clients.

Qualifications

• Experience in the Water & Wastewater industry essential.
• Ability to create design documentation (FDS, system architecture, PLC I/O lists, hardware selection).
• Experience with software testing (simulation or hardware) and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Deliver automation and control solutions from design through commissioning to meet client standards.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure safe, reliable operation of water treatment facilities.
• Support testing, commissioning, and on-site execution as required.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer, with previous experience in the water industry, to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on automation and control systems within the Water & Wastewater industry. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality solutions from design through to commissioning, ensuring compliance with client standards and industry best practices.

The successful candidate will be working 40 hours a week, based in Cookstown, Northern Ireland.

What We’re Looking For

• Ability to create design documentation (FDS, system architecture, PLC I/O lists, hardware selection).
• Strong PLC and HMI programming skills using client standards.
• Experience in the Water industry is essential.
• Experience with software testing (simulation or hardware) and commissioning.
• Knowledge of network setup and integration with multiple PLCs.
• Telemetry testing and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Effective client management and communication skills.
• Previous experience in and a solid understanding of the Water & Wastewater industry.
• Demonstrable experience in software programming.
• Electrical qualification or equivalent experience.
