Job summary

Profitec Solutions in Cookstown, Northern Ireland, is seeking a Software Engineer to join the team and work on automation and control systems for the Water & Wastewater sector. You will deliver high-quality solutions from design through commissioning, ensuring compliance with client standards and best practices.

The role is based in Cookstown and involves a 40-hour week, with hands-on work on MCC panels, SCADA integration, and off-site electrical builds across the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience in the Water & Wastewater industry.
• Strong PLC and HMI programming skills to client standards.
• Experience with software testing (simulation or hardware) and commissioning.
• Electrical qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Create design documentation (FDS, system architecture, PLC I/O lists, hardware selection).
• Program PLC and HMI to client standards.
• Test software and commission control systems.
• Configure networks and integration with multiple PLCs.
• Perform telemetry testing and troubleshooting.

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer, with previous experience in the water industry, to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on automation and control systems within the Water & Wastewater industry. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality solutions from design through to commissioning, ensuring compliance with client standards and industry best practices.

The successful candidate will be working 40 hours a week, based in Cookstown, Northern Ireland.

What We’re Looking For

• Ability to create design documentation (FDS, system architecture, PLC I/O lists, hardware selection).
• Strong PLC and HMI programming skills using client standards.
• Experience in the Water industry is essential.
• Experience with software testing (simulation or hardware) and commissioning.
• Knowledge of network setup and integration with multiple PLCs.
• Telemetry testing and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Effective client management and communication skills.
• Previous experience in and a solid understanding of the Water & Wastewater industry.
• Demonstrable experience in software programming.
• Electrical qualification or equivalent experience.
