Job summary

Profitec Solutions, part of Browne Group, seeks a Software Engineer to deliver automation and control systems for Water & Wastewater projects in the UK. You will design, program, test, and commission solutions across MCC panels, SCADA, and real-time monitoring, working to client standards and best practices.

The role is based in Cookstown, Northern Ireland, at a dedicated factory with opportunities across UK water projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in design documentation (FDS, system architecture).
• PLC and HMI programming to client standards.
• Water industry experience essential.
• Experience with software testing (simulation or hardware) and commissioning.
• Knowledge of network setup and PLC integration.
• Telemetry testing and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Effective client management and communication skills.
• Electrical qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Create and document design artifacts (FDS, architecture, PLC I/O lists, hardware).
• Program PLC/HMI per client standards and deliver robust solutions.
• Test and commission software on water/wastewater systems.
• Assist with network integration of multiple PLCs and telemetry testing.

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer, with previous experience in the water industry, to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on automation and control systems within the Water & Wastewater industry. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality solutions from design through to commissioning, ensuring compliance with client standards and industry best practices.

The successful candidate will be working 40 hours a week, based in Cookstown, Northern Ireland.

What We're Looking For

• Ability to create design documentation (FDS, system architecture, PLC I/O lists, hardware selection).

• Strong PLC and HMI programming skills using client standards.

• Experience in the Water industry is essential.
• Experience with software testing (simulation or hardware) and commissioning.

• Knowledge of network setup and integration with multiple PLCs.

• Telemetry testing and troubleshooting capabilities.

• Effective client management and communication skills.

• Previous experience in and a solid understanding of the Water & Wastewater industry.

• Demonstrable experience in software programming.

• Electrical qualification or equivalent experience.
