Job summary

Platform Recruitment in Cambridge is seeking a Software Engineer C# to join a leading technology business, working in the new NPI function.

You will own software-driven automation and production test activities to bring new products into manufacture, collaborating with R&D, manufacturing, quality and electronics teams to deliver robust test solutions.

Qualifications

• A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Experience developing software tools for production testing and process automation.
• Strong experience with C#.
• Experience using WPF and MVVM.
• Understanding of software release processes and configuration control.
• Experience troubleshooting software interacting with embedded hardware systems.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of software-driven automation and production test activities for new products.
• Develop automated test processes for new products and assemblies.
• Support DFT principles across product development and NPI projects.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, quality, mechanical and electronics engineers.
• Improve production processes and ensure products are thoroughly tested and ready for volume manufacture.
• Identify opportunities to reduce production test and build times.

Software Engineer C# | Cambridge | £45,000 - £55,000

A leading technology business is expanding its engineering team and is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join a newly established New Product Introduction function.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of software, automation, electronics and manufacturing, helping transition innovative products from development into scalable, repeatable production.

The Role

As part of the new NPI team, you will take ownership of the software-driven automation and production test activities required to bring new products into manufacture.

Working closely with R&D, manufacturing, quality, mechanical and electronics engineers, you will develop automated test solutions, improve production processes and ensure products are thoroughly tested, validated and ready for volume manufacture.

You will:

• Support software and test design activities, applying Design for Test (DFT) principles throughout product development
• Support software and test workstreams across NPI projects
• Develop processes for firmware programming, product configuration, calibration data and version control
• Design, develop and document automated test processes for new products and assemblies
• Develop automated electromechanical test systems to improve production throughput and product quality
• Identify opportunities to reduce production test and build times

We are looking for a software-focused engineer who enjoys working across the full product development and manufacturing lifecycle.

You will ideally have:
