Job description

Software Development Engineer - FinTech, Fintech - Tax

Amazon's Financial Technology team is looking for passionate, results-oriented, and inventive software developers who can work on massively scalable and distributed systems. The candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands how to handle large datasets and transactions, and will help deliver a new generation of software leveraging Amazon Web Services. Our platform supports Amazon's finance, tax, and accounting functions globally.

As a team member, your mission will be to design, develop, document, and support scalable, distributed real-time systems. Using C++, Python, Java, object-oriented design patterns, distributed databases, and innovative storage techniques, you'll build software systems supporting complex and evolving business requirements.

We seek individuals with a range of experience—from motivated new graduates to seasoned technical leaders. If you think big and want to join a fast-moving team breaking new ground at Amazon, and meet the qualifications below, we would like to speak with you!

Key job responsibilities
  1. Design and build solutions to optimize the experience for Tax customers.
  2. Define, envision, design, roadmap, and develop a new platform from start to finish.
  3. Manage all project lifecycle phases: reviewing requirements, designing foundational services, building interfaces, integrating with existing architectures, developing and testing code, and delivering seamless implementations for global tax customers.
  4. Work hands-on with the engineering team to manage daily activities, participate in design and code reviews.
  5. Evaluate and utilize AWS technologies like EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, RedShift, SWF, S3, and QuickSight to build backend services and APIs.
  6. Design and code technical solutions using tools such as AngularJS, React, Node.js, jQuery, and SQL Server to deliver value to tax customers.
  7. Contribute to tools hosted on AWS infrastructure.
  8. Build dashboards and visualization services.
  9. Utilize a variety of lifecycle tools and methodologies, including agile development.
A day in the life

This role involves collaborating closely with Tax teams to understand their business problems, adapt quickly to changing needs, and align with customer priorities. You should be able to build quick solutions, create POCs, and recommend appropriate solutions. Working closely with peers, you'll design solutions, perform deep dives, and contribute to code quality. You will also own and resolve operational tickets alongside your team.

About the team

Our charter includes building software solutions for tax compliance and auditing teams, focusing on geo-expansions, including in-country, new-country, mergers, and acquisitions. We collaborate with stakeholders across different geographies, currently developing data lineage-based reporting solutions that enable tax teams to generate reports based on transactional data linkages across financial systems.

  • 3+ years supporting title development, release, or live operations in the Video Games Industry
  • Experience programming in at least one software language
