Job summary

You will work in an experienced engineering team, developing scalable applications, contributing to design, mentoring colleagues and shaping future software directions. Requires 5+ years’ experience and strong Java/C++ skills on Linux, with Docker and DevOps practices. Gloucester-based role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.
• Strong experience with Java and/or C++.
• Experience developing software within Linux environments.
• Good understanding of software architecture and object-oriented design principles.
• Experience developing backend applications, services or APIs.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Experience using Git and modern development workflows.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience working within Agile development environments.
• Containerisation technologies such as Docker.
• CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Cloud platforms and modern software architectures.
