Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Specialised Software Development Engineer (SDE-I) to work on privacy, hypervisor, and IoT device projects across multiple locations within the EMEA region. You will contribute to state-of-the-art systems, including Ring and EC2-related initiatives, while collaborating with senior engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams.

You will design and implement software for large-scale distributed systems, ensuring security, performance, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems or related STEM field.
• Graduation expected Aug 2026 – Nov 2026 or recently graduated (within 24 months).
• Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, C#, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, Go).
• Experience with data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
• Embedded development in C/C++ or related hardware debugging.
• Experience with Linux, Embedded Development, Firmware, Shell scripting.

A day in the life

As a Specialised SDE-I, you'll immerse yourself in challenging projects that push the boundaries of technology.
You'll interact with and learn from experienced engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to solve complex problems and implement innovative solutions.
Your work will directly impact Amazon's global customer base, whether by enhancing privacy controls, improving EC2 instance performance, or developing new features for Ring devices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Are enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related STEM fields
• Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant field
• Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Java, C/C++, C#, Objective C, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or Go
• Experience with data structure implementation, basic algorithm development, and/or object-oriented design principles
• Experience in embedded development in C/C++, or experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware
• Expected graduation between August 2026 - November 2026, OR graduated within the last 24 months
• Experience with Linux, Embedded Development, Firmware, Shell Scripting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in embedded development in C/C++
• Experience in embedded development in C/C++, or experience programming with at least one software programming language
• Experience from previous technical internship(s) or demonstrated project experience
• Experience with Unix and scripting in Perl, shell, C or C++
• Experience in computer architecture, or experience writing low level drivers
• Experience with RTOS or bare-metal programming
