Job summary

Baxter International Inc. is seeking a Software & Automation Engineer to join our Thetford-based team. You will manage automation projects, develop technical specifications, and support maintenance with control/instrumentation issues using modern production technology.

Qualifications

• High competency in PLC operation and philosophy, hardware and software.
• Experience with electrical schematics, electronic circuitry, control loops.
• Experience with electrical panel wiring, device configuration and integration.
• Experience in communications protocols such as TCP/IP, Serial, fibre.
• Experience in SCADA, PCS, HMI & DCS.
• Experience with CSV and regulatory compliance in validated environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage automation & control projects to high standards of capital management and handover criteria.
• Provide technical expertise on engineering and process improvement projects.
• Develop specifications in automation, instrumentation and process control.
• Manage change control and software best practices for site automation equipment.
• Support maintenance in resolution of control/instrumentation issues.
• Manage automation data acquisition, storage and presentation from machine to enterprise level.

What you’ll be doing

• Manage system automation and control projects to the highest standard of capital management, schedule compliance and system handover criteria.
• Provide technical expertise on key engineering projects and process improvement projects
• Develop technical specifications in the area of automation, instrumentation and process control
• Management of change and software best practices for all site automation equipment
• Support maintenance in resolution of control and instrumentation issues where necessary
• Manage automation data; acquisition, management, storage, and presentation from machine to enterprise level.

What we’re looking for

• High degree of competency in PLC operation and philosophy, hardware and software
• Experience with electrical schematics, electronic circuitry, control loops
• Experience with electrical panel wiring, device configuration and integration
• Experience in communications protocols such as TCP/IP, Serial, fibre and integration into automation systems
• Experience within manufacturing automation, robotics and servo motion control
• Experience in the area of SCADA, Process Control Systems (PCS), HMI & Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
• Experience of working in a highly validated environment with working experience and or qualifications in Computer System Validation (CSV) and Computer Systems regulatory compliance
• Experience of software working in an agile environment
• Competency in IT hard/ware/software troubleshooting and repair
• Experience of automation data acquisition, management, storage and presentation from machine to enterprise level
• Experience with database management and design; SQL, Oracle.
