Job summary

Ernesford Grange Community Academy is seeking a Head of Sociology to lead the department with strategic vision and uphold the highest standards of teaching. The role includes fulfilling duties as a subject teacher under the Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document.

The successful candidate will inspire staff and students, design curricula across KS3-KS4 (KS5 where applicable), and drive continuous improvement in learning outcomes. The post is a permanent full-time appointment in Coventry.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent qualification.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development in leadership/management (e.g., NPQLTD, NPQSL, or internal leadership training).
• Ability to inspire, motivate, and lead both students and staff, fostering a cohesive departmental identity.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Sociology department with strategic vision and uphold high pedagogical standards.
• Deliver an outstanding, consistent experience for all students.
• Lead across KS3 and KS4 (and KS5 where applicable) and contribute to curriculum design.
• Mentor colleagues to improve teaching quality and learning outcomes.
