Job summary

Essex County Council is recruiting a Social Worker for the Young People with Disabilities service, 16+ mid team, based in Chelmsford. The role includes frontline social work across assessments, safeguarding, care planning, and court work for young people aged 16 to 25.

The post supports transitions to adulthood within a stable team, with a nine-day working fortnight for full-time frontline staff and flexible working arrangements to suit service users and staff wellbeing.

Qualifications

• A diploma or degree in Social Work, CQSW, CSS, or an equivalent qualification.
• Registration with Social Work England as a registered Social Worker.
• Professional standards aligned with PCF and KSS.
• Proficiency in case recording.
• Ability to apply social work knowledge with emotional intelligence, analytical skills and confidence in challenging situations.
• Strong IT skills including Word and SW case recording systems.
• Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Engage in front-line social work functions under Children’s and Adult’s legislations, including assessments, reviews, safeguarding, care planning, children in care, care leavers, and court work.
• Manage a caseload of 16/17-year-olds and young adults up to 25.
• Support transitions into adulthood for young people and families.
• Maintain accurate case records and documentation.
