Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Senior Practitioner for Children & Young People with Disabilities in Mid Essex, based in Chelmsford. The role leads a team, mentors staff, and oversees complex caseloads with a focus on safeguarding and transitions to adulthood.

You will work within statutory frameworks, develop partnerships, and contribute to service improvement while maintaining high professional standards.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Social Work or related profession.
• Open to professionals registered with Social Work England.
• Experience in children and families social work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex caseloads for children and young people with disabilities.
• Provide integrated services to help families meet needs and transitions to adulthood.
• Oversee Duty, supervise staff, and deputise for the Team Manager when needed.
• Maintain records, produce reports, and participate in meetings and reviews.
• Build relationships with partner agencies to support service delivery.
