Job summary

Eden Brown Synergy are recruiting a Social Worker for the Kent Intake Unit (KIU) in Dover to support Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). The role focuses on immediate safeguarding, assessments, and arranging suitable accommodation, while collaborating with Home Office, police, and health services.

The position requires a Social Work degree, current Social Work England registration, and 3+ years post-qualification experience in UK Children’s Services, with preference for experience with

Qualifications

• Social Work degree or equivalent qualification.
• Current Social Work England registration.
• Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience in a UK Local Authority.
• Experience working with children and young people within statutory Children's Services.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and relevant legislation.
• Experience with vulnerable adolescents, UASC or young people with complex needs would be advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced frontline environment.

Responsibilities

• Responding to newly arrived Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC).
• Undertaking initial assessments and identifying immediate safeguarding needs.
• Assessing risks relating to exploitation, trafficking and safeguarding.
• Ensuring children receive appropriate accommodation and placements.
• Working collaboratively with the Home Office, police, health services and other partner agencies.
• Supporting children through the initial stages of their care journey.
• Completing accurate assessments, case recordings and statutory documentation.
• Promoting the welfare, safety and best interests of children and young people.
