Job summary

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is seeking passionate Social Workers to join the Learning Disability Team. You will assess, plan and safeguard adults with learning disabilities, promoting independence within their communities and working with families and partner agencies.

Two roles are available: a full-time 37-hour post and a part-time 18.5-hour post. The team offers development, supervision, and pension benefits as part of an attractive package.

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
• Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.
• Knowledge of Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Ability to build positive relationships with individuals, families and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload supporting adults with learning disabilities in complex situations.
• Deliver Care Act assessments, reviews and support plans.
• Promote rights and choice through Mental Capacity Act assessments and Best Interests decisions.
• Work collaboratively with health partners, providers and advocacy services.
• Empower people to maximise independence, wellbeing and community involvement.
• Champion Direct Payments and personalised approaches to support.
• Prepare reports and represent the service at reviews, meetings and court proceedings when required.
