Job summary

Somerset Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner Social Worker in Learning Disabilities (Adults) to lead practice, supervise colleagues and drive service improvement within the LD service. You will work with social workers, occupational therapists and partners to support adults with learning disabilities to live independently and access their community.

The role offers a starting salary of £43,149 rising to £47,665, permanent contract, 37 hours per week, and a flexible hybrid

Qualifications

• Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
• Significant post-qualifying experience within Adult Social Care, including complex casework and risk management.
• Strong knowledge of the Care Act, safeguarding responsibilities and strengths-based practice.
• Experience supervising, coaching or mentoring colleagues and supporting professional development.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making and communication skills with the ability to provide constructive challenge and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional leadership, guidance and support to Social Workers to ensure safe, effective, strengths-based practice.
• Take a lead role in complex and high-risk cases, offering advanced decision-making and professional expertise.
• Champion safeguarding practice and support colleagues with legal interventions, risk management and Court of Protection work as required.
• Supervise, coach and mentor practitioners, supporting professional development and maintaining high standards of practice.
• Lead and contribute to service improvement, quality assurance and performance activities to improve outcomes for adults, carers and families.
