Job summary

Sanctuary Personnel Limited is seeking a Social Worker - Fostering Team in Seaham, County Durham, for an ongoing locum role with flexible hours. The position offers a choice of full-time or part-time commitments and a competitive hourly rate.

You will undertake fostering assessments, provide supervision to foster carers, contribute to care and permanence planning, and collaborate across services to safeguard children. Registration with Social Work England is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work (BA, MA or equivalent recognised qualification).
• Current registration with Social Work England.
• ASYE completed and evidence of continued professional development.

Responsibilities

• Undertake fostering assessments including Form F assessments, viability assessments, and connected persons assessments in line with fostering regulations.
• Provide supervision, guidance and support to approved foster carers, identifying development needs and facilitating access to training opportunities.
• Assess the needs of children in foster care and contribute to care planning, permanence planning and placement stability arrangements.
• Prepare reports and present assessments to fostering panels, court proceedings and internal review meetings where required.
• Work collaboratively with children's social workers, health professionals, education providers and other partner agencies to safeguard and promote children's welfare.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Registration & Compliance

Experience

• Post-qualifying experience within Children's Services, fostering, looked after children or family support services.
• Experience supporting foster carers and undertaking statutory assessments.
• Demonstrable experience of child-centred practice, safeguarding investigations and multi-agency working.
