Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality social work practice to improve outcomes for children and families.
  • Ensure that work reflects Team Wigan behaviours and practice standards, embedding the Family Saf safeguarding model.
  • Identify strengths, vulnerabilities, and attitudes towards change to help keep children, young people, and families healthy, happy, and safe.
  • Deliver child-focused assessments that clearly articulate the child’s voice and ensure these are reviewed regularly.
  • Manage a complex caseload, performing direct work with children and their families to address individual needs and reduce harm.
  • Collaborate effectively with partners such as Early Help and Prevention, education services, police, and the NHS.
  • Maintain up-to-date, detailed, and accurate records using Liquid Logic and other tools, ensuring they remain purposeful and jargon-free.
  • Attend court proceedings as necessary.
  • Contribute to the development of services for children and their families.
  • Embrace opportunities for learning, growth, and career development in social work.
  • Uphold social care standards as outlined by Social Work England and maintain your registration in accordance with statutory regulations.
  • Operate within the guidelines of GDPR, ensuring data is reviewed and disposed of according to retention schedules.
