Job Description:
- Carry a workload reflecting increasing complexity, risk, uncertainty, and challenge, in line with the capability of a social worker with at least one year’s post-qualification experience. Regular supervision will be provided according to departmental policy.
- Work within relevant current legislation and the procedural framework of Peterborough City Council.
- Collaborate with children, young people, and families/carers to assess their needs and plan and deliver services accordingly.
- Build effective relationships with children, young people, and families/carers to elicit their needs and views and promote participation in decision-making.
- Undertake assessments following statutory, regulatory, and operational standards, considering risks to children and young people.
- Plan, implement, and review interventions for children, young people, and families in line with standards, policies, and procedures.
- Manage workload independently, seeking support when needed and proposing solutions for workload challenges.
- Utilize supervision proactively for effective practice, reflection, and professional development.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records, producing clear reports and analyses.
- Engage with colleagues and organizations to assess and support the needs of children and families, promoting positive change and independence while judiciously managing risk.
- Adhere to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy and other relevant policies, challenging or reporting discriminatory practices.
- Meet the standards of the Professional Capabilities Framework, Social Worker level, and HCPC registration.
- Uphold the Council’s policies on Equalities and Customer Care.
- Comply with all Health & Safety requirements.
- Support safeguarding and the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
- Perform other duties as reasonably required within the department or equivalent roles.
