Warrington Borough Council seeks an experienced social worker for its Mental Health Team 2. The role involves supporting individuals with complex mental health conditions, conducting assessments, and collaborating with various agencies. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced social worker to join Mental Health Team 2 within Warrington Borough Council’s Specialist Teams service
Warrington Borough Council has two mental health teams within its Adult Social Care division; Mental Health Team 1 and Mental Health Team 2.
Mental Health Team 1 covers the Central and South areas of Warrington and mental Health Team 2 covers the West and East areas of Warrington.
Working under the Care Act 2014, the Mental Health Act 1983 (Amended 2007), the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Human Rights Act 1998 we provide assessments, intervention and support to people experiencing complex mental health difficulties which significantly impact their daily life.
The team supports people with mental health needs and conditions including mood disorders such as depression and bipolar affective disorder, anxiety disorders, complex trauma, psychosis, personality disorders and other complex mental health conditions.
We work in partnership with Warrington Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust to ensure needs are met and facilitate safe and timely discharge from hospital back in to the community.
We work in cooperation with appropriate agencies including the police, care agencies, housing and the NHS to protect vulnerable people. We aim to provide the least restrictive care possible, using a strengths based and person centred approach.
You will need to be experienced in building and sustaining relationships with vulnerable adults and their families.
You will need to have excellent communication skills, be able to complete strengths based assessments, identifying needs, risks and outcomes with the individual. An excellent working knowledge of applicable legislation is essential as is the ability to work flexibly and effectively in partnership with a range of voluntary and statutory agencies as well as having good time management and organisational skills.
A working knowledge of mental health social work is essential.
