Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Forestwood is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join the CAMHS inpatient team. You will provide psychosocial assessments, lead safeguarding, and coordinate discharge planning with families and external agencies.

The role requires a current Social Work England registration, 2+ years in mental health settings, and strong communication and reporting skills. Inpatient modality, with a 40-hour week and a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Current Social Work England registration and practicing status.
• Solid knowledge of mental health legislation and safeguarding procedures.
• Experience with discharge planning and multi-agency collaboration.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads and competing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with good report-writing abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial assessment for CAMHS inpatient service users.
• Lead safeguarding and systemic support for young people admitted to the unit.
• liaise with families, carers and external agencies to support safe discharge.
• Develop and deliver discharge plans coordinating with multidisciplinary team.
• Prepare written reports and contribute to care planning discussions.

You will be part of a supportive MultiDisciplinary Team supporting young people in their treatment and working towards discharge.Key Responsibilities:Work in partnership with service users, their families and other stakeholders to assist with the recovery processForge links and maintain contact with other statutory agenciesLead on the social care needs of service usersEnsure that service users and their families/carers are aware of their legal rightsTake an active role in safeguarding within the multidisciplinary teamProvide written reports to the multidisciplinary team and other professionalsPerson Specification:Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England professional registrationMinimum of 2 years experience working within mental health settings, experience of working in inpatient or acute mental health environments is desirable.Strong knowledge of mental health legislation, safeguarding procedures, and social care frameworksExperience with discharge planning and multi-agency collaborationAbility to manage complex caseloads and competing prioritiesExcellent communication and report-writing skillsDesirable:Experience in CAMHS, inpatient mental health or crisis services.Understanding or training in systemic practices and trauma informed care.Knowledge of SEND frameworks, care proceedings, CETR and contextual safeguarding.Why Cygnet?
