Job summary

Westmorland and Furness Council's Children's Social Work Academy is looking for a post-holder to coach and mentor newly qualified social workers during their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment and to supervise social work students. The role requires regular time at the Barrow office with some travel across the county.

The successful candidate will have Social Work England registration, an enhanced DBS with Children's Barred List, and substantial post-qualifying experience in children's

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker with Social Work England registration.
• Enhanced DBS check with Children's Barred List check.
• Substantial post-qualifying experience in children's social care.
• Experience in supporting, coaching, mentoring or supervising social workers and students.
• Strong understanding of social work practice, professional standards and workforce development.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated support to newly qualified social workers during their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment.
• Provide support to social work students.
• Deliver face-to-face coaching, learning opportunities and professional guidance from the Barrow office.
• Support the recruitment, development and retention of social workers.
• Travel across Westmorland and Furness as required.
