Job summary

Disability North in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a kind and patient Personal Assistant to support Shannon, who has fetal alcohol syndrome, global developmental delay and learning disabilities. The role is 15 hours per week during school holidays, at £14 per hour, based in NE3.

You will help Shannon access social activities and enjoy time in the community. Shannon requires close supervision for safety and comfort, with activities adapted to her needs.

Qualifications

• Support Shannon to access social activities and enjoy spending time out in the community.
• Assist with activities outdoors and in parks, ensuring Shannon's safety and comfort.

Job description

Hours: 15 hours per week during school holidays flexible with family

Location: NE3, Newcastle upon Tyne

Pay: £14.00 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a kind, patient and caring Personal Assistant to support Shannon, who has fetal alcohol syndrome, global developmental delay and learning disabilities.

Shannon loves music and dancing and enjoys visiting parks and playing on swings. She would benefit from a PA who can support her to access social activities and enjoy spending time out in the community.

Shannon has limited awareness of danger and requires close supervision to help keep her safe. She can also experience pain in her back and legs, so her PA will need to be mindful of her physical comfort and adapt activities to suit her needs.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, attentive and understanding, with a caring approach and the ability to build a positive, trusting relationship with Shannon. Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, developmental delays or learning disabilities would be beneficial.
