Disability North is seeking a kind, patient Personal Assistant to support Karl in the Newcastle area. You will help him access social activities, accompany him to parks, go-karting, football, and other outings, and ensure safety in the community.
The role requires calmness under pressure, vigilance, and the ability to follow guidance from Karl’s mum. Experience with children or young people with additional needs is beneficial; eligibility to work in the U.K. is required.
Location: NE3, Newcastle upon Tyne
Pay: £14.00 per hour
We are looking for a kind, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to support Karl, who has fetal alcohol syndrome, global developmental delay and learning disabilities.
Karl loves outdoor activities, including visiting parks, playing football, riding bikes, going to soft play and enjoying go-karting. He needs a PA who can support him to access social activities and enjoy the things he loves.
Karl has limited awareness of danger and may run off when he becomes upset or experiences a meltDown, particularly when he is told no. It is therefore essential that his PA is vigilant, patient and confident in keeping him safe when out in the community.
Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs would be beneficial. We are looking for someone who is caring, responsible and understanding, with the ability to remain calm and follow guidance from Karl’s mum.
If you enjoy outdoor activities and would like to help Karl have fun, access the community and enjoy new experiences safely, this could be a rewarding role for you.
This vacancy will close as soon as a suitable candidate is appointed.
At the time of starting their employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
