Job summary

Disability North in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking two Personal Assistants to provide 2:1 support for a 15-year-old boy with Autism and ADHD. The roles are 2 x 3 hours per week in the Sandyford area to help him participate in community activities safely.

You will work as a pair, stay calm under pressure, and keep up with a highly active boy who enjoys many outings. Driving licence and own vehicle are essential; petrol costs are reimbursed.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting a young person with Autism & ADHD is essential.
• Driver with own vehicle is essential.
• DBS check and references will be requested if offered the role.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2:1 support to enable the son to access community activities.
• Help him participate in activities in a safe, calm manner.
• Work as a pair with the other PA to stay in sync and proactive.

Rate: £15.00 per hour

I am looking for 2 Personal Assistants to provide 2:1 support to my 15-year-old son with Autism & ADHD, to allow him to get out in the community and participate in activities safely.

He is a happy, adventurous boy, an opportunist, inquisitive, highly active, who enjoys going out & about exploring many places and things. He loves going to town centres, home furniture shops, toilets, going swimming, the Alan Shearer Centre for sensory sessions and adventure parks.

The role calls for 2 PAs who can work well as a team, stay calm under pressure who enjoys new challenges, are confident and are able to keep up with my son, as he is quick and always on the move.

Previous experience of supporting a young person who has Autism & ADHD, challenging behaviours, is essential, have excellent communication skills, problem solving skills, patience, caring, fun & active reliable, trustworthy, and willing to learn, so you understand him.

Someone who can drive and is willing to use their car for work is an essential requirement for the role. The usage of petrol will be reimbursed.
