Dundee City Council is seeking a Social Care Officer for waking nights at Fairbairn House. You will work 35 hours per week and support safety and well-being for children and young people during night shifts.

Ideally you will hold an HNC and SVQ Level 3 with SCQF Level 7 equivalence and at least three National 4s. PVG scheme membership will be required within six months of appointment.

Qualificações

• Ability to undertake HNC and SVQ Level 3 and any other qualification providing evidence of academic achievement equivalent to SCQF Level 7
• 3 National 4s or equivalent

Requirements

You will have the ability to undertake relevant HNC and SVQ Level 3 and any other relevant qualification which provides evidence of academic achievement equivalent to or above SCQF Level 7. You will also have 3 National 4s, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

You will assist in the creation and maintenance of a high-quality care environment in which children and young people are assured of safety and security. You will care for young people during the waking night shift hours as specified.

The Individual

You will have experience and understanding of working collaboratively with young people and their families and carers and understanding the emotional practical and social care needs of young people.

You will have experience of working effectively in a team, good communication skills (both written/verbal).

You will have the ability to undertake Moving and Handling and CALM procedures.

You will have the ability to work permanent night shift and to work up to 31 weekends.

You will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within six months of being appointed.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
