Job summary

Dundee City Council's Home Care Team is seeking a part-time care worker to support service users in their own homes across Dundee. You will address assessed personal and social care needs with compassion and professionalism.

You will need SVQ2 or be able to undertake training, be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council, and hold a full driving licence. PVG scheme checks apply. Flexible shifts include evenings, weekends, and some nights.

Qualifications

• SVQ2 or equivalent training the candidate must have or undertake training to achieve this award.
• Ability to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timeframe.
• Full driving licence required.

Based within Home Care Team at various locations across the city, you will work part time, 30 or 36 hours per week.

Requirements

You will have SVQ2 or ability to undertake training to achieve this award within a specified timeframe.

You will have the ability to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified time.

The Individual

You will have past/present caring experience to a high standard either life or work experience.

You will have good written/oral communication skills, be able to work as team member and also be able to work alone and to use your own initiative.

You will have assessment skills and be able to understand and meet the needs of people living in the community.

You will be able to show sensitivity and understanding in dealing with vulnerable people and be non-judgemental with a caring, pleasant and professional approach and be dependable and have reliable attitude to work.

You will be required to work a range of shifts, including a split shift, evenings, weekends and occasional nights.

A full, current driving licence is required.

You will be required to do further study/training.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
