Job summary

Orkney Islands Council is seeking a Social Care Assistant to support individuals living independently in their own home in Kirkwall. The role involves promoting dignity, wellbeing, and independence, with shifts over seven days and potential flexible working where possible.

You will report to a Senior Social Care Worker and contribute to care delivery, with a focus on assessing community activities and supporting risk management within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 Disclosure with PVG scheme membership.
• Post restricted to female applicants only under equality legislation.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals living independently in their own home in Kirkwall.
• Promote choice, dignity and wellbeing, and help individuals develop independence in daily living tasks.
• Assist people to assess community activities such as music events, cinema trips and other social opportunities.
• Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, responsive care that supports wellbeing and independent living.
• Contribute to support planning and risk assessment processes, working with the keyworker, Senior Social Care Worker and wider team.
