Job summary

Circle Recruitment is seeking a SOC Engineer to join our client’s security operations team in Manchester or London. The role is onsite with some flexibility and involves proactive threat monitoring, incident investigation and infrastructure support across cloud, network and endpoints.

The successful candidate will demonstrate SC clearance eligibility, 2+ years in a SOC role, and experience with SIEM/EDR. Occasional travel to the central offices is expected; sponsorship is not offered for this

Qualifications

• Must be SC cleared or eligible for SC clearance.
• 2+ years of experience in a SOC Analyst/Engineer role.
• Experience in a Service Desk, IOC, NOC, or managed services environment.
• Strong knowledge of cyber security principles, security monitoring and incident response.
• Experience with SIEM, endpoint security and security event investigation.
• DFIR experience would be highly advantageous.
• Experience with Microsoft cloud and infrastructure technologies (Azure/AWS, Windows Server, AD).

Responsibilities

• Monitor and triage alerts from SIEM, EDR and cloud platforms.
• Investigate security events, escalate threats and support containment and response.
• Analyse logs and monitoring data, assist with remediation and improve security operations.
• Maintain accurate investigation records, security documentation, runbooks and knowledge articles.
• Provide second-line support across cloud, network, infrastructure and end-user environments.
• Support Azure, AWS, identity services, network technologies, backups, patching and lifecycle activities.
• Troubleshoot incidents and service requests, retaining ownership and escalating complex issues.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers and technical teams, including handovers and reviews.
• Work independently, contribute to continuous improvement and develop automation opportunities across security and infrastructure.

SOC Engineer - Manchester OR London - SC

Central Manchester OR Central London - Onsite (with some flexibility)
Days + occasional on call
c.£30-45k base salary DOE + on call allowance and payments

We are looking for a couple of experienced SOC Analysts / Engineers to join our MSP client's growing team in either their central Manchester or London office. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a varied, hands‑on role at the heart of security operations, combining proactive threat monitoring and incident investigation with wider infrastructure support. You will work across cloud, network and endpoint security technologies, helping to identify risks, respond to emerging threats and strengthen clients' overall security posture. The role would suit a motivated SOC professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, taking ownership of incidents and continuously developing their expertise across cyber security and infrastructure.

Skills and Experience

• You must either be SC cleared or be eligible for SC clearance.
• 2+ years of experience in a SOC Analyst / Engineer role
• Experience in a Service Desk, IOC, NOC, or managed services environment.
• Strong knowledge of cyber security principles, security monitoring and incident response.
• Experience with SIEM, endpoint security and security event investigation (Microsoft security or ELK stack preferred but not required)
• Experience with digital forensics and incident response (DFIR) would be highly advantageous.
• Proven ability to support Microsoft cloud and infrastructure technologies and resolve technical incidents.
• Working knowledge of Azure, AWS, Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Understanding of networking, firewalls, SD‑WAN, wireless solutions, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, backup and recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse logs and monitoring data, assist with vulnerability remediation and improve security operations.
• Maintain accurate investigation records, security documentation, runbooks and knowledge articles.
• Provide second-line support across cloud, network, infrastructure and end-user environments.
• Support Azure, AWS, identity services, network technologies, backups, patching and system lifecycle activities.
• Troubleshoot incidents and service requests, retaining ownership and escalating complex issues appropriately.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers and technical teams, including shift handovers and operational reviews.
• Work independently, contribute to continuous improvement and develop automation opportunities across security and infrastructure.

This is a majority onsite role. In order to be considered for this role you must be willing and able to travel to either central Manchester or central London on a regular basis.
