Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking an SME Underwriter to own the full trading cycle—from submissions and quotes through to binds—applying sharp risk analysis to grow and protect profitability.

You will underwrite, negotiate with brokers, manage a portfolio, target new business and retention, and collaborate with internal partners to expand cross‑selling while operating in a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of products, regulatory environment, and local insurance market.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking for underwriting and risk assessment.
• Ability to negotiate with brokers.
• Ability to work with diverse teams and cultures.
• Industry/Competitor analysis to gain market insights.
• Project management for regulatory changes and product enhancements.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate risks to maximise profitability.
• Actively target new business and retention.
• Collaborate with management to address portfolio risks.
• Develop pipeline and collaborate with sales team.
• Mentor junior underwriters.
