Job description

We're looking for a Smart Metering Quality Assurance Auditor to join our Smart Metering Programme team and help ensure the highest standards of quality, compliance and workmanship across one of the largest smart meter rollouts in the UK.

As part of our ambitious programme to reduce water leakage, improve water efficiency and support our environmental commitments, you'll play a key role in auditing works carried out by both delivery partners and internal teams. Working closely with the Compliance Manager, you'll help ensure installations, reinstatments and associated works are completed safely, compliantly and to the standards our customers expect.

This is a varied and field-based role, combining site inspections, desktop and quality audits, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement activities. You'll work collaboratively with contractors, operational teams and external stakeholders to drive quality performance and support successful programme delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor compliance with company standards, industry regulations and contractual requirements.

  • Identify quality issues, non-conformances and areas for improvement, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

  • Assess contractor and internal team performance against agreed quality standards and KPIs.

  • Support investigations into quality concerns and help mitigate programme risks.

  • Produce clear audit reports, findings and recommendations for stakeholders and senior management.

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits and corrective actions.

  • Work closely with delivery partners and operational teams to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

  • Provide guidance and support on quality assurance processes, standards and best practice.

  • Collaborate with customers and other key stakeholders to ensure programme objectives are met.

  • Identify opportunities to improve quality processes, efficiency and overall programme delivery.

  • Support the Compliance Manager in driving quality performance across the Smart Metering Programme.

What We're Looking For

You'll be a detail-oriented and proactive professional who enjoys being out on-site, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring work is completed to the highest standard. You'll be confident building relationships with contractors and stakeholders, whilst not being afraid to challenge when standards aren't being met.

Essential:
  • Experience carrying out quality assurance, inspection, auditing or compliance activities within utilities, construction, highways or infrastructure environments.

  • Strong understanding of quality management principles and assurance processes.

  • Knowledge of regulations, standards and compliance requirements within utilities or construction-based industries.

  • Ability to identify risks, investigate issues and implement practical corrective actions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presenting findings.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • NRSWA Supervisor qualification (Units LA, S1, S2, S3, S4, S5 and S7).

Desirable:
  • Experience working within the water, utilities or infrastructure sectors.

  • Previous experience monitoring contractor performance and quality standards.

  • Degree in Engineering, Quality Management or a related discipline.

  • Professional quality qualification, such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Certified Quality Manager.

  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and quality performance programmes
