Job description

SMART Meter Engineer Support Agent - Dual Fuel West Sussex

Role Overview

We are seeking SMART Meter Engineer Support Agents with electricity and gas meter experience to join our Field Debt Solutions team. In this role, you will assist customers in resolving debts, support future payments, install PAYG meters when appropriate, and help reduce energy consumption.

We provide all necessary equipment: smartphone, tablet, tools, uniform, vehicle, and fuel card. Training will be provided on installing SMART meters according to E.ON standards and advising customers on payment options. After training, you can earn additional incentives based on performance.

This role offers variety, independence, and the chance to make a positive impact. No fixed shifts allow flexibility, and optional overtime provides additional earning potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent customer service by understanding their circumstances and helping agree on appropriate debt resolution solutions.
  • Plan efficient routes to minimize environmental impact.
  • Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and collect information.
  • Identify new tenants through face-to-face discussions, letting agents, and neighbors, while complying with DPA.
  • Exchange meters to SMART Pay as You Go or Classic Prepayment.
  • Lead warrant teams to access customer premises for meter exchanges or disconnections when necessary.
  • Record job details using paperwork or electronic devices.
  • Report health and safety risks or customer vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure broadband access at home for data uploads; a monthly broadband allowance is included in your salary.

Candidate Profile

  • Valid UK/EU driving license (preferably clean, max 6 points).
  • MOCOPA/CMA1/MET2 qualifications.
  • Trained in SMART Meter & Dual Fuel installation.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles.
  • Willing to travel within the area.
  • Excellent verbal communication and negotiation skills.

Additional Information

  • Salary up to GBP43,791, including base salary, location allowance, revenue protection work, skilled allowance, and performance-based rewards up to GBP4,800.
