Job summary

TF Installations Ltd seeks a Small Works Fire Alarm Engineer to install, commission, test and maintain fire alarm systems on small to medium projects. The role involves reviewing drawings, selecting equipment and ensuring compliance with fire safety standards.

The position is full-time and on-site in St Albans with regular travel to local client sites and a 1 in 4 on-call rota.

Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in electrical engineering, fire systems, or a closely related field.
• Hands-on experience with conventional and addressable fire alarm systems, control panels, detectors and devices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and specifications with attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to interact with clients, colleagues and on-site contractors.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, fault-find and maintain fire alarm systems on small to medium projects.

Role Description

The Small Works Fire Alarm Engineer will be responsible for minor installation, commissioning, testing, fault-finding, and maintenance of fire alarm systems on small to medium-sized projects. Typical tasks include reviewing drawings and specifications, selecting appropriate equipment, and ensuring compliance with relevant fire safety standards and regulations.

The role also involves liaising with clients and site contractors, preparing accurate documentation and reports, and providing technical support and guidance as needed.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in St Albans, requiring regular travel to local client sites and a hands-on approach to field work.

1 in 4 on call rota required for the role

Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in electrical engineering, fire systems, or a closely related field.


• Hands-on experience working with conventional and addressable fire alarm systems, control panels, detectors, and associated devices.


• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.


• Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and contractors on-site.


• Full UK driving licence and eligibility to work in the UK; prior experience in small works or project-based fire alarm installations is an advantage.
