Job summary

McLaren Resourcing is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer to install, commission, service and maintain fire alarm systems across commercial, industrial and residential premises.

You will work closely with customers and project teams to ensure systems meet BS 5839 and industry requirements with high standards of workmanship and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience as Fire Alarm Engineer or in the fire alarm industry.
• Knowledge of BS 5839 and fire safety requirements.
• Ability to read technical drawings and system specifications.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain fire detection and alarm systems.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and routine servicing.
• Diagnose and repair system faults efficiently and safely.
• Undertake testing and commissioning of new and existing systems.
• Complete installation and maintenance works in accordance with BS 5839 and relevant legislation.
• Identify system defects and recommend appropriate remedial works.
• Complete service reports, certificates and job documentation accurately.
• Liaise professionally with customers and provide clear explanations of works undertaken.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment, parts and materials used.
• Work independently while also supporting other engineers and project teams when required.
• Participate in an on-call or emergency call-out rota where applicable.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Fire Alarm Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of fire alarm systems across a range of commercial, industrial and residential premises.

You will work closely with customers, project managers and other engineers to ensure all systems are installed and maintained to a high standard and in accordance with relevant British Standards and industry requirements.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Fire Alarm Engineer or within the fire alarm industry.
• Understanding of BS 5839 and relevant fire safety requirements.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and system specifications.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• FIA qualifications or equivalent industry-recognised training.
• Experience with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
• Experience with manufacturers' systems such as Advanced, Kentec, Morley-IAS, Notifier, Gent, Hochiki or similar.
• Experience working with emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, fire suppression or other life-safety systems.
• ECS/CSCS or other relevant site qualifications.
• Experience working on commercial or industrial projects.
