Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon (Consulting Focus)
Stanley House Vets | Colne, Burnley & Barnoldswick, Lancashire
Are you looking for a veterinary role that offers high-quality clinical work, genuine work-life balance and a supportive team that values your wellbeing as much as your professional development?

At Stanley House Vets, we're saying goodbye to some much-loved colleagues who are embarking on exciting new adventures overseas, creating an opportunity for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, experienced team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a vet who enjoys building client relationships and delivering excellent first-opinion care, with a particular focus on consulting. If you'd like to maintain your surgical skills too, we're happy to tailor the role to include routine procedures.

About Us

With over 100 years of caring for pets and their owners, Stanley House Vets is proud to be a trusted part of the local community and a leading provider of first-opinion small animal care across East Lancashire.

We're a well-established, RCVS-accredited practice and are excited to have recently achieved RCVS Veterinary Hospital Status, recognising our commitment to exceptional patient care, clinical excellence and practice standards.

Our Practice Includes:
  • A purpose-built Veterinary Hospital in Colne
  • A consulting and operating branch in Burnley
  • A consulting branch in Barnoldswick
  • Our own 24/7 out-of-hours service, providing continuity of care for our patients
  • Modern facilities including digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, in-house laboratory equipment, endoscopy, dedicated surgical theatres and separate canine and feline wards

We're passionate about supporting both our people and our local community through charity fundraising, educational initiatives and local partnerships.

  • Consulting-focused position with a strong emphasis on client care and clinical decision-making
  • Routine consultations and case work-ups
  • Working alongside an experienced and supportive clinical team, with certificate holders in medicine, dentistry and emergency and critical care, supported by a highly skilled nursing team
  • Opportunity to undertake routine surgical procedures if desired
  • Full-time position (part-time and flexible working arrangements considered)
  • No out-of-hours commitments
  • Participation in a shared weekend rota helping us continue to provide excellent care and continuity for our patients
  • Flexible schedules available so we can create a role that works for both you and the practice

We understand that a successful veterinary career should fit around your life, not the other way around.

About You

We're looking for a vet who:

  • Has ideally completed VetGDP
  • Is confident with routine consultations
  • Enjoys building strong client relationships
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Is enthusiastic about learning and ongoing professional development
  • Wants to be part of a supportive, collaborative practice
Why Join Stanley House Vets?

Outside of work, we enjoy spending time together too. This year we're taking part in the Pendleside Hospice Corporate Challenge, alongside team events including Tough Mudder and the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. Whether it's fundraising, celebrating successes or simply enjoying each other's company, there's always something going on.

Our clients often tell us they can feel the positive culture from the moment they walk through the door and we're incredibly proud of that.
