Swaffham Vets is an independent small animal practice in beautiful Norfolk. Since opening the practice ten years ago, Liam and Helen—who is also our Practice Manager—have prioritised clinical freedom and focused on building a team dedicated to exceptional patient care. Our veterinary team boasts a wealth of experience, from recent graduates to over 20 years in practice. This blend of knowledge ensures you'll always have someone to learn from and collaborate with, creating a supportive and empowering learning environment where you can continuously grow and develop your skills.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced vet to join our team part-time, working a 2.5/3-day week, with just 1:7 Saturday mornings (9 am-12 pm). You will have just one late (6.30 pm) finish each week, with the other days finishing at 5 pm. Our consults finish at 4.30 pm, meaning you can get out the door on time. We can be really flexible with the rota and are happy to chat about the options available.
We all share the operating and consulting duties, giving you plenty of time to practice and develop your skills. We recently added a ‘floating vet’ shift to the rota, which has been a fantastic addition as it ensures there is always someone available to manage any emergency appointments and help out where needed. There are breaks scheduled throughout the day to catch up on admin and make phone calls, and time is blocked to ensure you get a proper lunch break.
Our out-of-hours work is outsourced, so you have your evenings, Sundays, and bank holidays free to enjoy. We occasionally look after our own (stable) inpatients, but our RVNs provide the inpatient care, meaning you can be on-call from home to oversee this and would only be called in if needed. The inpatient rota is just one weeknight following your late finish and 1 in 7 weekends, which includes your Saturday consult shift. If there are no inpatients at the end of your shift, you know you’re free for the night/weekend.
