Job summary

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture are seeking motivated Fitness Assistants to join Blantyre Leisure Centre. You will help customers on their fitness journey, engage and educate on latest trends, and keep the gym clean and welcoming. Training will be provided if needed.

Applicants should hold a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification; relevant HNC or equivalent is preferred. Experience in a gym is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers on their fitness journey and engage them on trending training methods.
• Ensure gym area is clean and tidy at all times.

Location: Blantyre Leisure Centre, Glasgow Road, Blantyre

Hours: 8 hours per week

Work Pattern: 2 week rota

• Week 1: Saturday 8am-4pm
• Week 2: Sunday 8am-4pm

Salary/Hourly Rate: £14.12-£14.27 per hour

Duration: Fixed Term until 31st March 2027

Job Profile

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Fitness Assistants to join our team at Blantyre Leisure Centre. The successful applicants will support our customers on their fitness journey, building rapport quickly to engage and educate them on the latest fitness trends and support them through their training as well as ensuring that the gym is kept clean and tidy.

You must hold a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification, relevant HNC or equivalent.

Applicants should have excellent interaction skills. Experience of working within a gym environment would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.

Preferred candidates identified after the selection event process will be required to assist the recruitment team, if need be, to ensure timely completion of recruitment checks. If recruitment checks are not completed within a reasonable timescale, you may automatically be withdrawn from this position.

Any candidate canvassing elected members or employees, either directly or indirectly, in relation to recruitment, will immediately be disqualified.

Overseas Criminal Records Check

An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required where applicants born outside the UK (Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or who have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of twelve months in the past 10 years.

Applicants are responsible for providing evidence of the Overseas Criminal Record Check. The check must be translated into English and should come from the police, judicial authority, government department or home embassy of the country or countries concerned. The check must include an official statement confirming that the applicant does not have any history of or pending criminal record proceedings.
