Job summary

Reflexlabels in Worcester is seeking a dedicated Slitter Operator to run our slitting lines safely and efficiently. You will ensure materials are staged for the next process, maintain a clean, compliant work area and support a culture of continuous improvement.

In this role you will troubleshoot issues, minimise downtime, and work closely with the team to meet customer specs and production targets while upholding health and safety standards in a busy Conversion department.

Qualifications

• Experience in operating slitting equipment is desirable.
• Strong attention to health and safety in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and improve machine performance.
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage materials and paperwork.
• Proactive approach to maintenance and housekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to health and safety requirements in the Conversion department.
• Operate Slitter machines safely and efficiently.
• Manage ancillary equipment for Slitting lines.
• Minimise downtime and waste in the Conversion area.
• Improve machine performance through troubleshooting and CI.
• Oversee consumables for the Slitting department.
• Ensure schedules and run times are met and equipment is ready for the next job.
• Maintain equipment and resources with a focus on safety and hygiene.
• Follow health, safety, and hygiene procedures including BRC compliance.
• Conduct effective shift handovers and prepare paperwork for the next shift.
• Locate materials for current and upcoming jobs.

Role Overview

The role is to ensure the slitting machines are operating to maximum efficiency, ensuring that designs are slit within a target timeframe and to the customer specification. To organise ancillary products/equipment to provide a well‑organised and safe place of work including WIP and finished goods ensuring materials are available as required for the next process (The Customer). A clean environment is key to help maintain best practices.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure health & safety requirements within the Conversion department are adhered to at all times.
• To ensure that all Slitter operators are operating in a safe manner.
• To be responsible for the ancillary equipment of the Slitting machines.
• To minimise downtime and waste within the Conversion department.
• To develop the efficiency of machine performance by effective troubleshooting and implementing improvements using CI techniques.
• To be responsible for the consumable items used within the Slitting department.
• To effectively operate within the parameters of schedule, ensuring that set times/run times are adhered to and equipment is ready for the next job.
• Take due care and attention of equipment and resources with particular regard to Health & Safety, hygiene, good housekeeping and basic maintenance.
• To ensure that Health, Safety and Hygiene procedures are followed at all times, including compliance with BRC criteria.
• Carry out effective shift handovers to ensure continued quality and avoid unnecessary downtime issues.
• To ensure all paperwork is ready for the job and next shift.
• Locate materials ready for the job and new jobs pending.
