Job summary

Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council is seeking a Youth Club Worker to inspire and support young people aged 11–24. You will help design and run engaging activities at the youth club, fostering a positive, safe environment.

No prior experience is required; the role offers a pathway to gain a formal youth work qualification within two years, and benefits include hybrid working, generous pension contributions, and holiday entitlement.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with young people aged 11–24 in various settings.
• Knowledge of the youth work curriculum statement for Wales.
• The national youth work qualification required for registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).

Responsibilities

• Deliver projects and activities aligned to Citizenship, Art, Sport, Health and Welsh, including DoE and youth forums.
• Support young people to become involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of services and activities at the youth club.
• Ensure safeguarding, equal opportunities and health and safety policies are observed.
• Inform the Worker in Charge of concerns regarding grievances, incidents or safeguarding issues.
• Complete all relevant youth club paperwork according to procedures and policies.
• Deliver projects and activities that broaden horizons and promote community cohesion.
• Attend three preterm meetings per year.

We are currently seeking someone with a passion for working with young people and a genuine desire to make a difference in their lives. As a Youth Club Worker, you will:

• Deliver projects and activities in line with Citizenship, Art, Sport, Health and Welsh, which includes DoE and youth forums.
• Support young people to become involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of services and activities at the youth club.
• Ensure that local authority policies and procedures are observed in respect to safeguarding, equal opportunities and health and safety.
• Inform the Worker in Charge of any concerns regarding grievances, complaints, incident and or accidents or safeguarding issues.
• Complete all relevant youth club paperwork in accordance with the local authority’s procedures and policies.
• Deliver projects and or activities which broaden horizons and promote community cohesion.
• Attend three preterm meetings per year

The successful candidate will have the ability to work with young people and colleagues to deliver a range of activities at the youth club. You will need to be highly motivated, organised and have the skill to develop activities in a fun and safe environment that involves young people at all levels. No experience is required at this stage however, the successful candidate will be required to complete the relevant youth work qualification within two years of commencing this role.

About you, do you have:

• Experience of working with young people between the ages of 11 – 24 in a variety of settings
• Knowledge of the purposes and principles of the youth work curriculum statement for Wales
• The relevant national youth work qualification required for registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
