Pertemps Bond is seeking an experienced Plater to join a busy steel and heavy fabrication environment in Dudley. You will interpret engineering drawings, mark out, cut, shape and assemble heavy steel components, ensuring precise fabrication and conformance to specifications.

The role requires strong measuring skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with fabrication machinery. Health and safety practices are essential in this high‑risk setting.

Qualifications

• Experience interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Ability to measure and mark out steel plates and sections.
• Experience with heavy fabrication equipment and processes.
• Strong safety awareness when working with heavy components.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings to determine dimensions and assembly requirements.
• Measure and mark out steel plates and sections for cutting.
• Operate fabrication equipment including plasma cutters, torches, guillotines, rollers and presses.
• Assemble heavy steel plates and components using appropriate tools and lifting equipment.
• Carry out tack welding to secure components before final welding.
• Inspect finished components for dimensional accuracy and compliance with specs.
• Grind and finish steel components to required standards.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace following health and safety procedures.
